And then there is Hypnosis: 

Now in automation we have a requirement to install Manual/External Control Systems in all robots (automated systems).  This is so that no matter how smart the system is, we may have need to immediately terminate some or all automatic control.  When such systems are omitted and the machine fouls up, people get hurt while helpless to stop the idiot/runaway machine. 

Initially one would hardly think that animals, especially human beings would have an installed Manual/External Control System.

We notice that we have found ways to “charm” some animals.  We find that most humans can be “charmed” also, if we substitute the word “hypnotized”.  Hypnosis is an External Control System that functions in human beings.  There are those who say everyone cannot be hypnotized.  Others assert 90% of us can be hypnotized more or less easily and scenarios are being found constantly to whittle down that 10%.

The implications of this are enormous. Human beings along with most (all?) animals have a built-in External Control System: A means by which each of us can be turned into machines (albeit organic) under someone else’s control.  It is built into the human operating system and out of reach of our conscious control.  The automated city of cells’ programs (operating systems and many applications) continue to function when we are asleep, unconscious, ... in a hypnotic trance.  Our gregariousness is part of it.  Our “herd instinct” (as it has been called) is a safety in numbers survival program and opens us all to cooperation with our groups.  Opens us all to being influenced by someone(s) else.

If we consider an Influence Scale with minimum influence at one end and maximum influence at the other end, we can place hypnosis at the maximum end.  This area expands into stages of hypnosis ranging from light to catatonic.  Some of it’s “higher” stages hypnosis provide direct access to some/all cellular activities/programs including “turning off” neural transmission of pain signals.  Some cultures use these levels of hypnosis for healing (redirect cellular growth/activities) and occasionally they “cure” something “incurable”.  We know that a patient’s “state of mind” effects his/her healing rate.

THIS IS A DANGEROUS THOUGHT AND MAYBE SHOULD BE OMITTED (We could have video with subliminal hypnotic commands that we are learning faster and the video is slowing down, while actually the video speeds up above ten times real time.  We could teach/learn any subject at ten times our present rate.  What a great educational tool that would be?  It could elevate humanity’s civilization to CIVILIZATION.  But the other edge of that sword is: What a propaganda/mind-control/genocidal machine that would be? And under hypnosis too?  Humanity’s civilization could be reduced to ant hill level with a few power mad nuts (power corrupts etc.) calling all the shots as they are trying to do today and throughout our history.)

Today the most of the research into how people are influenced is being done by the advertising industry.  We all know they can sell us billions of dollars worth of pure useless junk and nonsense, some of which is harmful to us and/or our environment.  Some research in hypnosis is being done on the fringe of medicine.  Hypnosis has been demonstrated to reduce the pain/trauma of childbirth.

We have several more internal programs that disconnect or take over our consciousness when they see fit. We “black out” or “see red” and do things that cause us to say later: “How could I have done that?”, or “why the blank did I do that?”. No matter how intellectual and under control we think we are, our survival program can and will take control of our minds and bodies whenever it (survival program) decides to do so.  For example when we see our 4 yr old child being attacked. Anger, part of our survival suite (of programs), can also cause the suspension of our conscious thought processes.  Given the right circumstance(s) and we can all be turned into raging homicidal maniacs (animals) by internal programs over which we have little or no control.  Temporary insanity is sometimes very real in spite of the legal dramas that make it appear to be always faked.

Our Sex drive (one of the Procreation Imperative’s Programs) has also been known to take over individuals.  It causes them to do things ranging from “blind love” to “I don’t know what came over me to have sex with that person (brother/sister, mother/father, daughter/son, husband/boyfriend’s or wife/girlfriend’s best friend”, etc).  Such activities have given rise to centuries of “soap operas”.
