Subject: WAKE UP CALL 1.0

The Democrats have been given a WAKE UP CALL.  We have allowed our fundamental position to be co-opted over the years.  Get back to fundamentals and undo the damage to our fundamental position.  Mount a propaganda campaign to reestablish the meaning and value of the word LIBERAL.

LIBERAL is not a dirty word.  CONSERVATISM is a dirty word.  How did the two get switched?  Media propaganda? Laxity on the part of liberals?

Liberals sat back and allowed the "Big spending liberal" tag (and other negative tags) to be used to make liberal a dirty word in the U.S.  Now we have to use terms like "progressive".  Now we are forced to the center instead of maintaining the "left".  Now the center belongs to the conservatives and liberals are left out in the cold.  WAKE UP!  We should have reminded the country that liberals are responsible for everything good in the U.S.:  Social Security was obtained by liberals over the dead bodies of conservatives.  Medicaid and Medicare came from liberals over the dead bodies of conservatives.  Laws restricting industry abuse of workers (discrimination, long hours, low pay, no pensions, etc.) came from liberals over the dead bodies of conservatives.  All programs that help people --- on and on.

Christian Fundamentalism is linked to CONSERVATISM.  Christian Fundamentalist have successfully terrorized abortion doctors and abortion clinics such that abortion is not available in most of the U.S.  Christian Fundamentalist like Islamic Fundamentalist have no problem using violence to achieve their goals.  In the U.S. we have the death penalty in a legal system known to be badly flawed and racist, but Christian Fundamentalist don't care:  "Kill 'em".  Note: Christian Fundamentalist have convinced most Christians to ignore the commandment "Thou shall not kill" or to add "except, except, except" to it.  (Look at the present serial killers of DC.  The only thing determining where the first trials take place is where the death penalty statutes are strongest --- the attorney general).

COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING LIST AND GET BUSY

Liberal Conservative

anti-slavery pro-slavery (good for capitalism then, "slave wages" now)
anti-death penalty pro-death penalty  (knowing legal system is biased)
anti-discrimination pro-discrimination (business decisions)
pro-workers pro-business
pro-healthcare pro-drug companies and HMO's
pro-education anti-education (the dumber the voter the better)
tax the rich tax the poor
tax cuts for the poor   tax cuts for the rich
pro-pluralism  anti-gay, anti-black, anti-women
pro-women's rights anti-women's rights
pro-democracy  pro-plutocracy (government by the rich and powerful corporations)
anti-terrorism  pro-terrorism (terrorized abortion doctors and clinics, terrorized Blacks past and present)
anti-police state pro-police state
more personal freedom  less personal freedom
Criminal abuse of power (Nixon, Reagan, George II, Gingrich)*
.
.
.
More to come...

 * Criminal Abuse of Power

Nixon (the "break in" of Democratic HQ was the tip of the iceberg),

Reagan (Iran Contra was the tip of the iceberg),

Bush (don't think election fraud, Enron, 9/11, Afghanistan, Iraq and faith based funding Christian White Supremacist are the whole iceberg),

Gingrich (hijacked the US Congress, caught and fined but his lock-step voting storm-troopers remained in the Congress and the Senate).

Note:  The Clinton indiscretion does not rise to the level of criminal abuse of power.

Note 2: Death Penalty

Even if I believed in the death penalty, in the U.S. the administration of justice has been shown to be unfair and I could not support it.  But the loud protest following the recent commutation of death sentences makes me wonder who we are as a country.  Hence the following email to CNN's "Talk Back Live" show on the subject.

Subject: Death Penalty

Are we a Christian country?  Isn't there a commandment: "Thou shall not kill"?  Doesn't this commandment apply to Christian fundamentalist?  With this constant howling for death via a known biased death penalty, how are we any different from Islamic fundamentalist?  We are less bloodthirsty only by the slightly fewer number of crimes that bring a death penalty.

Note 3: Affirmative Action

The situation on Affirmative Action for college admission is straight forward.  When the schools in Black and Latino ghettos can train their students to the same level of scholastic competence as schools in White communities, Affirmative Action for college entrance will not be necessary.  The playing field will be level.  Until then Affirmative Action for college admission is required.  Opposition to this Affirmative Action should be focused on  improving primary and secondary education in Black and Latino communities, thereby rendering Affirmative Action unnecessary.

DETAILS:

1. The problems are many and large.  We have under-funded schools, over-crowded classes, the least motivated teachers (low salaries, poor working conditions, security, etc.), least motivated students, few computers, not enough books and supplies.  Those are just a few of the problems preventing Black and Latino (and poor White) students from being prepared to compete for college entrance with White students from schools without these problems.

2. Then there are other problems.  Even the best of schools have lowered expectations for Black and Latino students as a result of media stereotypes, racial stereotypes, direct and indirect racism.  If I had listened to counselors, I would never have become a Physicist.  First I had to overcome the effects of these stereotypes on myself.  Being an obnoxiously cocky, very smart, boy who was a grade ahead, I was able to maintain self-esteem.  I was the only Black in a Catholic school.  I had to constantly fight against everyone else who has been brainwashed in the racist stereotypes.  The pious Alter boys used to gang up to beat me up everyday.  Dealing with hate everyday without becoming one who hates is extremely difficult.  Many of my Black friends succumbed to the self-destructive force of hating and did not make it.  I always remembered that it was White people passing by who saved me from the White Alter boy gangs.

3. Add to all those problems the White Supremacy movement, which is expanding faster than ever via the internet.  These groups are targeting children (not required to say "Adults Only" on their websites) and men in power on their ever growing number of hate websites.  Most of these websites present themselves as the Christian Right and preach the inferiority of blacks as Christians did during the centuries of slavery.  When I was teaching Computer Science at the University of Lagos (Nigeria 1966-70), one of my students asked me why Blacks had not progressed further in the U.S.  I told him, among other things, that we faced Organized Opposition (KKK, White Citizens council, several named societies) from DAY ONE.  The recent Trent Lott slip-up combined with the large White Supremacy movement makes it clear that Blacks still face Highly Organized Opposition.  This makes me think that the poor state of education, in the U.S. in general, Black and Latino schools in particular, is  the result of deliberate actions.

Note 4: Cheney's Secrets vs GAOemail sent February 10, 2003 --- Cheney's Secrets vs GAO

To: ACLU (on their website)

Subject:  Cheney's Secrets vs GAO.

The news says that the GAO will not appeal a ruling to allow Cheney to continue to hide critical information from Congress.  Cheney does not have to reveal which of the energy related corporate crooks crafted which parts of Bush's energy policy.  We know Enron was scamming California in the energy arena and the Indian government on power plants (They asked Bush to make the Indian government pay up).  No-one in high government office should  have the right to harbor criminals (corporate or otherwise).  Cheney's past is highly suspect (details at http://www.advancedresearchconsultants.com/cheney.htm).  AND WE KNOW ENRON WAS INVOLVED IN CRIMINAL ACTIVITY.  How many other crooks were involved in shaping Bush's policies?   Coming back to Bush we have more disturbing information (see http://www.advancedresearchconsultants.com/BigOil.htm).

Please pick up this fight for our right to know which crooks were involved in crafting U.S. policy.
