(Note 16 continued)

In the sense of our definition of a major aspect of slavery, most religions try to control the minds of their believers.  This is clearly enslavement (actual or attempted) to the religion's Deity.  Note that the concept of deities has largely been erased from the vocabularies of humanity - primarily because the believers of the one Deity concept for centuries systematically murdered, enslaved or otherwise destroyed everyone who believed in more than one god.  Furthermore since mythological times the Deity has taken a non-active role in governing the lives of human beings.  Men, and occasionally women, have represented the Deity and interpreted "His" wishes to the earthly masses.

3.            Enlightenment and associated higher stages of the human mind is basically denied existence in most Western Religions.  They are the essence of many Eastern Religions.  The few considerations of other states of human existence granted by Western Religions are:

3.1.                   possession by the Powerful Immortal (a god that isn't called a god in monotheism): the Devil who has been opposing God, apparently with some success, down through the ages.  Exorcism is one of the services offered by at least one major Western Religion dedicated to the God of Europe.

3.2.                   Possession by the POWERFUL IMMORTAL (The One and Only True God): GOD.  Here we must differentiate.  The God of the Old Testament didn't go in for this possession by either Himself or the fallen Angel (the immortal group from which the Devil was cast).  The God of Europe occasionally possesses human beings and often permits the Devil to do so also.  These possessions by God are called "rapture", "communion with God", "The Religious Experience", "speaking in tongues", etc.

The Eastern Religions that stress the search for Enlightenment have names for this state of mind.  Some of these names have found their way into western dictionaries. i.e. Satori, Nirvana, etc.  This effort to find the source of thought in oneself and/or becoming one with that source can be illuminating even if only partially successful.  Learning to control one's mind in the manner prescribed by Yoga ("The Path" to enlightenment) can make one aware of levels of thought, and communication, above the normal human perception, before one reaches the Enlightened State.  Generally, in the west, those who know of these other levels of thought and communication keep it secret.  Whenever it pops up, it is treated as one of the possessions mentioned above.  In some cases groups of people develop a way of working their way together to some higher level.  When we see these large cults commit mass suicide, we wonder, how could this kind of thing happen.  As with one who has never experienced a sexual climax, no concept of the ecstatic impact of sex, and therefore, of sex itself can be understood.  So it is with one who has never experienced the mental ecstatic thrill available through these higher states of mind.  My first encounter followed years of Yoga meditation. Consider:

3.3.                   I was at a party with David, a buddy of mine, and Gerry, my girlfriend, both of whom I'd known for years.  At this party, I happened to walk into the kitchen and found David talking to Gerry and two other women.  There was a kind of mental echo to his voice and statements.  He perceived I had heard that echo and said to me, on still another echo, without interrupting his conversations with the ladies [... you see I'm talking to these (3) ladies, each about something different ... and you're the 4th, what do you think of this...].  Each person answered as though he'd asked them, which he did.  I was flabbergasted.  One lady he was talking to about cooking answered with respect to the dish he'd described.  Another he was talking to about home repair and to Gerry he was talking about sex.  To me he was bragging about his ability to do what he was doing.  I was totally agape.  I never knew such a thing was possible.  I was twenty eight years old and never had an inkling of such or the mental thrill that went with this level of interaction.

3.4.                   I asked him the next day at work about it.  Was that an illusion?  How, when, where did you learn to do that?  Is this a function of age?  This last question received an answer in the following form:

3.4.1.               Another scientist walked up and engaged David, an engineer, in a conversation about an old project that was failing.  During the course of that conversation, David looked at me, smiled and said "you know how old that is, and there's nothing coming from it."  That was the basic "non-sexual 'double entendre'" applied differently.  To the other scientist, David was making an apropos comment about the old project.  To me, David said the other scientist is older than either of us but none of this level of conversation / communication was forth coming. What David was doing had nothing to do with any religion.  David was not a religious person.  But David could produce this level of thought and communication / conversation at will.  He would never answer questions about how many people he could extend to include.  I thought I had noticed an apparent physical strain when there were more than 3 people involved.  Consider now what a person like David could do as a self-styled religious adept (a god).  The literature says that these people convince those who are exposed, that it is God that he has connected their minds to, and those thrills are just the foretaste of the ecstasy to come.  Of course he is the messenger of God (sometimes actually God).  Few people in the West seem to know that this state of mind is available to everyone, whether you believe in God or not.  Similarly, hypnosis works whether you believe in God or not.  Add a knowledge of hypnosis and standard religious brainwashing techniques, to this other ability and you get a Joseph Smith, Daddy Grace or a Father Divine on the one hand.  And a Jonestown or a Waco on the other.

                     3.4.2.

17.       A sad commentary on Civilization is that after 2 decades of Computer Aided Education, we have failed to iterate the best educators/schemes to provide a complete, effective  and constantly improving education system.  The reason appears to lie in the area of --- we haven't figured out how to make money from it.???

18.  The power mad nut section ----  We know from the many lessons of history that power corrupts.  The follow through is that absolute power corrupts absolutely.   With this in mind, how much power can an individual have before becoming a menace to society?   Understand, we know the person with power is being corrupted (power corrupts).  We also know that the person with power will be the last person to perceive his/her insanity.  How is a democratic society to protect itself from power mad nuts.  When they kill someone directly, we can sometimes successfully prosecute.  But  indirect killing, like hiring thugs from country B to attack country A in the name of country B, in order to sell arms to both sides, the democratic society can only bring war generated extremist killers from countries A and B to war crimes justice occasionally.  The real villain and the rich got richer.  The power mad nut now has more power.  The war they started is payed for by the poor in blood, toil and money.  Excess resources taxes is a way of controlling the power growth of individuals.  (Even this must be enacted worldwide or it would not work --- they would move their assets to countries they control where excess resources taxes had not been voted in.  NO!  This is a problem in the modern world, anyone who is rich enough to warrant watching/control will have assets in every major country)   Does a democratic society have a right to know who owns how much of what in their country?  If potential power mad nuts (up and coming new rich, the super rich getting richer faster) are to have their growth (measured in assets) severely restricted, we need Excess resources taxes NOW.  Does a democratic society have the right to tax the rich more heavily than others?  Historically the answer has been an emphatic YES.  BUT, the rich keep trying to buy an emphatic NO.  Where they succeed, we move from a democratic society to plutocratic society run by the rich and power mad nuts.

But what about the ecclesiastical power.  One

19.     If we can vote the rights of groups out of existence, then why can’t we vote the rights of the rich out of existence?
