A BLACK HISTORY LESSON
(The Organized Opposition Blacks have faced throughout US history still exist and is still strong)The following email was sent to me. It will be necessary for you to read it before the Black History lesson can begin. After you finish reading the original then read the critique (in red). I have deliberately slanted everything to highlight the position stated by the White Supremacists using these same words of patriotism and belief in God. Its like a double entendre where racism instead of the risqué is implied.

SOMEONE FINALLY SAID IT.
From: Ken BrownTo: XXX Sent: Wednesday, September 18, 2002 4:19 PM Subject: Re: Please Vote and Forward UNDER GOD we have had 400 years of slavery and discrimination. Fredrick Douglas (prominent escaped slave) said that the more religious the slave master, the more he beat (and abused, sexually included) his slaves. And of course, UNDER GOD we will have NO REPARATIONS. For more on the culpability of Christianity by Frederic Douglass (http://www.mail-archive.com/brc-news@lists.tao.ca/msg00007.html).UNDER GOD we have the death penalty in a legal system PROVEN to be badly flawed and racist. Is this the God that commanded: "Thou shall not kill"? OBVIOUSLY NOT. But what could one expect of a group whose symbol is "The Cross" (ancient death by torture device).UNDER GOD we had the witch burnings of Salem. We still legislate a twisted morality. We always have the religious right pushing for a more encompassing police state. This is the same police state that consistently abuses Blacks. Since the hijacking of the U.S. Presidency AND (coincidentally?) 9/11, we have had our civil rights hijacked and an unbelievable expansion of the police state. Now the assholes, who couldn't add 2 + 2 before 9/11, are being given even more power to ignore civil rights whenever it's convenient.UNDER GOD we have a very large, and growing, number of Christian based, internet connected, White Supremacist Hate groups and other "slavery was right, non-whites (including Jews) are inferior, God says so" organizations. They preach/teach this to our children on the internet. Freedom of religion, right? Well, Not Exactly.UNDER GOD we are intolerant of some religious beliefs. Mormon and Muslim religions believe in polygamy. Polygamy is still illegal in this country. Religious based white supremacy, OK (legal even for children); Religious based polygamy, HELL NO (illegal for everybody).UNDER GOD greed is no longer a deadly sin. Greed is now a virtue in this country. Greed powers capitalism. Capitalism controls democracy (it's called plutocracy). The religious right is not speaking out against greed. In fact, it appears as though the religious right is in bed with the most greedy of corporate leaders, i.e. They worship the greedy. It has paid off too. They've hijacked our government and our rights with money from the greedy. (Remember Newt hijacked the congress and the senate using illegal money, got caught, got fined --- His Fraudulency, George II hijacked the presidency and our civil rights using money from the greedy.UNDER GOD Christianity is second only to Islam in the number of people killed and enslaved throughout history. Their God is Mars in a transparent disguise. These two religions have killed more people than all the plagues and natural disasters in history. Considering what this country did to the Indians and Africans, UNDER GOD IS APPROPRIATE to describe CENTURIES of GENOCIDE and SLAVERY followed by decades of segregation and discrimination.UNDER GOD represents the very worst of our country, past and present. HELL NO, "UNDER GOD" MUST GO.VOTE YES! ----- Original Message ----- From: Smith, JoanneSent: Wednesday, September 18, 2002 9:42 AM Subject: Please Vote and Forward
PLEASE VOTE "NO" AND FORWARD USA Today is taking a vote on whether the words "Under God" should be removed from the pledge of allegiance. You can vote by going to the following web site: http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2002/06/27/pledge-hold.htm
|
ON THE OTHER HAND THIS FLAG WAVING STATEMENT IS FAR MORE ACCEPTABLE |
FEAR OF GOD
The reaction of the believers to the court ruling against the "under God" part of the pledge of allegiance is an example of one reason why "under God" should be removed. I hear name calling and threats to the life of the individual who brought the case. I hear the word liberal used like a curse word. If it weren't for liberals, blacks would still be slaves in this country and other workers would still be working 16 hrs a day, 6 days a week and stores still be closed by law on Sundays.
Then there are those who say that God is in, and part, of our history. The God of George Washington said that blacks were inferior to whites and should be slaves. (This is exactly what the white supremist teaches your kids today on the internet.) Washington owned slaves. All of our founding fathers owned slaves because their God (in whom we trust) said slavery was OK or a good thing. Is this the God that decreed the witch burnings of Salem? Is this the God that directed the genocide against the Indians? Is this the God worshipped by racist who have discriminated against blacks since this country began right up to this very day? Is this the God worshipped by those who approve of the death penalty in a known racist injustice system? Isn't this the God worshipped by those who bomb abortion clinics and put out hit lists on, and murder, doctors who perform abortions But isn't that the God who commanded:"Thou shall not kill"? I never could understand pro-life people who favor the death penalty!!??
I was dismayed when the "under God" was inserted. History shows these people worship a blood thirsty God like Allah. These people are actually worshipping Mars, the roman god of war, masquerading as God. They certainly don't worship a god of love like they say.
Isn't it strange that most racist are religious believers in God. There is a growing number of people who believe most religious people are racist. They remember the words of the escaped slave who rose to prominence. Fredrick Douglas said that the more religious the slave masters, the more they beat and abused their slaves. Look at the large (and growing) number of Christian Hate Websites on the Internet today sucking in children and telling them God says white people are superior to "mud people" as they call all non-whites. Aren't these growing numbers of white supremist (in & out of government) worshipping the same God the slave holders (including our founding fathers) of our illustrious past when it was taught in church the blacks are inferior to whites?
Some large modern Christian organizations have recently apologized to all Africans and/or African descendents in the U.S. for the actions of their church in starting and/or perpetuating slavery and for the subsequent discrimination they participated in maintaining. The press said very little about these apologies. I note, however, that none these churches has come out for reparations.
"First come the bibles, then come the soldiers" to take our land and enslave our people. This was the cry of people around the world when referring to Christians and Moslems. The world wide slaughter and enslavement of people in the name of God is second only to Allah in the innocent people slaughtered and slaves taken and abused.
Then there is one of the 7 deadly sins, Greed, which is now a virtue in this country. Look at Enron, Worldcom, and look at the unbelievable executive salaries ($30 million a year and up is common). Now notice that it is the "religious right" that has allied themselves with the greedy executives. Yet these are the loudest proponents of "under God"!!??
NO THANK YOU. I DON'T WANT ANY PART OF THE GOD OF SUCH PEOPLE.
